This section of AnoBase hosts the
reprint collection of Dr. Mario Coluzzi, Professor of Parasitology at the
University of Rome La Sapienza, who has made it available to us. This unique
collection of papers is separated into different sub-sections divided in
a)Culicidae (CUL), b) Anopheles (ANO), c) Anopheles
gambiae (GAM), d) Malaria (MAL) and, finally, Coluzzis own publications
(COL).
AnoBase initiates this project
with approximately 100 pre-1985 papers from the GAM sub-section, ranging back
to 1937. During the next 12 months we hope (but dont promise) to be able to
store additional papers from all five subsections, and
we hope to have transferred more than 1000 publications by the end of 2005. All
the papers can be found as pdf files (see below).
Kitsos Louis is indebted to the
Fondazione Cenci-Bolognetti and its Vice President (and dear friend) Prof.
Paolo Costantino for the hospitality that made this reprint collection
possible. Moreover, this operation would not have been possible if the second dear
friend, Mario Coluzzi, had not embraced it, and agreed to make his collection
publicly available to the research community through AnoBase. He also helped
the project by providing secretarial assistance. On behalf of all Anopheles researchers, Mario, grazie
tanto!
Technical info:
To reduce size, most of the
papers have been scanned at a 100 dpi resolution in grayscale mode.
Occasionally, a somewhat higher resolution was used, or individual pages were
stored as bitmapped, or even coloured pictures. Where available, the abstract
of the publication (in English only when bi-lingual) has been, or will be
stored soon as a searchable text file in the database. In several cases where
the publications did not include an abstract, the first paragraph of the paper
has been stored instead. All abstracts or first paragraphs will be
keyword-searchable, as is the entire bibliographical information.
The papers are downloadable
without a fee as pdf files by clicking on the respective bibliographic
reference. Be aware that due to the length of the publications some of these
files are very big (several MB). To reduce their size, the files are only
readable using Acrobat 6.0 or later
